400 S. Tryon – Lobby

CHARLOTTE, NC - 9,000 SF

The objective of this project was to transform an outdated uptown lobby, taking it from its early 90's design to a more progressive, modern design.  Upon first impression, three dramatic, large scale Verner Panton pendant fixtures accentuate the high barrel vault ceiling, highlighting the original architectural aesthetic.  A substantial poured-in-place concrete guard desk, with custom LED backlit panels anchors the lobby.
The Callacutta polished porcelain floors and walls provide an elegant foundation that reflects a watery illusion of its surroundings.  They are softened by the warm accents of Zebrawood.  Colorful graphic artwork becomes the focal point in connecting corridors and elevator lobbies.
The new furniture, upholstered in vibrant inviting tones, provides an interactive space that allows for informal conversations and places to meet.  The architectural finishes anchor the lobby, while the rich and colorful fabrics of the furniture and area rugs provide cohesion throughout the lobby and connecting corridors, adding new purpose to the once passive building entry.
